Sneak peek – The Coloring Book
The coloring book should be seen as a creative, aesthetically pleasing and meditative way to reflect upon gender stereotypes and alternative gender identities through Nordic and international works of art. We have gathered 30 professional, acclaimed artists and illustrators to contribute to the coloring book, and asked them to create their idea of a visual expression that opens for reflections on gender and diversity. The fact that five out of the top ten best selling books on Amazon at the moment are coloring books targeting adults, only confirms the relevance of our work.
The artistic focus however, is brand new. Since the artists have interpreted the given assignment freely, the outcome is a book packed with a wide range of funny, serious, abstract, concrete and challenging works of art. All our contributing artists have created brand new artwork, that can be colored, remain as it is, pulled out of the book and displayed on the wall or wherever the receiver prefers. In this way, the receiver becomes a co-creator in forming and (re)interpreting the way gender and normality is typically perceived and the works of art can be utilized in a range of ways.
The coloring book will be published in large edition (cropped A3). A beautiful and affordable art book, printed on high quality paper and where all the individual pieces can be removed from the book, to hang on the wall if so desired. The art coloring book will be sold in various bookstores, a few selected galleries, concept stores and museums. Take a look at some of the contributions HERE
The art coloring book will be published by Mangfold Publishing in June 2016, and will be available in our webshop and in various selected museums and bookstores.
